Two New!!

I had these paintings sketched and woodburned for a while and I finally got around to finishing them this weekend :) One is called Butterfly and the other Heart & soul; they are both on wood, 6 x 6 inches in size, with lots of layers and collage.

We went on the steam trains today, as part of the Island at war weekend. It was great, lots of people were in costume, the station at Douglas had sand bags and guns, as it was set up as a military outpost from world war 2, we were given ID cards and could change our cash into old money to spend at various places during the event. During the journey, at Santon station ,we were all asked for our ID cards and there was some commotion and 2 people were arrested as spies!! all thrilling and good fun!We had lunch at Port Erin and then took the steam train back.

Holiday and custom made heart

We had a wonderful break over in England, the cottage was great and Mum and Dad came up to spend a few days with us.The photos show Me at the station where "a brief encounter" was filmed, me and my Dad, all of us at Morecome and the heart I made
I have just finished a custom made heart, a lady called Alex wanted it for her Mum to say thanks on her wedding day, hope her Mum likes it!

Official opening

Today was the official opening of the WI office on the Isle of Man. I am the federation secretary, which I took over in June.Its a busy post, but I think I am enjoying it so far.
The Governor of the Isle of Man's wife, Ms Katie Richardson, came to perform the official opening. She gave a lovely speech and cut the ribbon on the door. It was a lovely day, the sun shone and there was lots of creams cakes!!

Yesterday Wayne and I were privileged to attend the Tynwald garden party ( Tynwald is the government of the Isle of Man, its the oldest government in the world, & was founded by the vikings over 1000 yrs ago) its kind of like the Queens garden party but for people here on the Isle of Man. There was a big marquee with lots of fancy finger food, bands playing and everyone in their best attire! very posh!! Here are Wayne and I.

So proud of my Son

Last weekend we went to Chester to see My Son Nathans final degree show. I can't believe that that he has finished his 3 year Art degree already! He is waiting for his results now so fingers crossed he gets a 2.1 as then he has a place at Liverpool University to do a Masters degree in Art history and curation
